Our editorial team at BestinSingapore.com saw a new trend recently – home massage equipment. With Singapore becoming a more competitive nation, it makes sense that Singaporeans are getting stressed out even more! What better way to relax than to reach home and give yourself a massage. For this post, we’re reviewing massage guns, a personal massage tool that has become increasingly popular among casual users as well as serious athletes. We’ve reviewed several massage guns in the most popular price range: $120 – $400 and given our honest opinion!

To complete a thorough review, we also tried one of the massage guns from Shopee, and gave our verdict. Read more below!

  1. Myodive Sonic™ Massage Gun – $199 with Sale

A relatively new entrant into the massage gun space in Singapore, the German Engineered Myodive’s Massage Gun was our chosen pick for the best massage gun in Singapore. Our reasoning was due to several factors, combining both qualitative and quantitative factors.

Excellent Value for Money

The Myodive Sonic™ was especially value for money in their category, with specifications that exceeded our expectations.

Quantitative Factors

Price: $199 on Sale

Amplitude: 12mm
Stall Force : 18kg
Noise Level: Below 45db
Intensity Levels: 1700-3200 RPM
Battery Life: 5-7 Hours
Net Weight: 0.8kg
Number of Attachment Heads: 5
In-home Trial: 30 Days
Warranty: 1.5 Years

We found that the Myodive Sonic’s specifications far exceeded many similar massage guns within the same price range. With an excellent stall force of 18kg (one of the most important factors when it comes to massage guns), the Myodive is powerful enough for the biggest muscles, ensuring that you can get a thorough massage no matter how thick your muscles are.

Qualitative Factors

The Myodive Sonic is extremely sturdy and provides a superb grip feel. When our team member, Agustine, was using it, he commented that the movement of the German brushless motor within felt extremely smooth, which probably explains how the Myodive Sonic can maintain such a silent and smooth operation with such a high stall force.

Changing speeds was also a breeze, as you simply had to press the button to increase the speed. We had Agustine, our fittest member of our team, try the strength of the massage gun and he commented: “No matter how hard I press, it doesn’t stall.” The massage gun’s light weight also meant that it was one of the easiest to use. Its plush nanosilicone grip was also surprisingly pleasant to hold and use.

However, one shortfall of the Myodive Sonic is that it doesn’t come with an app (but we feel it makes up for it with a high battery life)

With all these factors included, we rated the Myodive Sonic 5/5 on value-for-money and functionality.

2. Theragun Prime – $369 with Sale

The Theragun and Therabody brand is pretty well known in the personal recovery industry. the Theragun Prime was 2nd on our list for the best massage gun in Singapore, with a pretty unique look and excellent specifications as well. While it definitely wasn’t superb value for money at $369, it did pretty well in our personal tests!

Quantitative Factors

Price: $369 on Sale

Amplitude: 16mm
Stall Force : 13.6kg
Noise Level: Below 50db
Intensity Levels: 1750-2400 RPM
Battery Life: 2 Hours
Net Weight: 1kg
Number of Attachment Heads: 4
In-home Trial: No
Warranty: 1 Year

Qualitative Factors

We found the Theragun Prime was of great build quality and its moveable attachment head was as pretty neat function as well! However, this wasn’t always a plus point as the head tended to move around if placed at just a slightly wrong angle. Its high Amplitude was great for people with thicker muscles, but for those with smaller muscles and places which were more tender, it could be slightly inconvenient. Its weight was also heavier than Myodive Sonic.

What stood out for the Theragun Prime was the moveable attachment head (if you like it), and the fact that there was bluetooth APP Connectivity. However, in most of the specifications, it was not as value for money. It also had a deeper Amplitude which could be more suitable for professional athletes with deeper points in their muscles to reach.

All in all, we felt that the Theragun Prime was innovative but its price point did not provide as much for the customer. A lack of an in-home trial was also factored in, giving it a rating of 4/5.

3. Hydragun – $359 with Sale

Hydragun is also one of the more well known brands, and it was pretty impressive! This was one that some of our reviewers liked, but others found it slightly more expensive for its specifications. It was a competitive product with pretty great features.

Quantitative Factors

Price: $359 on Sale

Amplitude: 12mm
Stall Force : 18kg
Noise Level: Below 50db
Intensity Levels: 1700-3200 RPM
Battery Life: 3-6 Hours
Net Weight: 1.04kg
Number of Attachment Heads: 7
In-home Trial: 30 Days
Warranty: 1.5 Years

The quantitative factors were somewhat similar to the Myodive Sonic, but it came at almost twice the price. Being slightly heavier and slightly noisier than the Myodive Sonic, we couldn’t help but feel that it was slightly overpriced. However, it has been used by many athletes and influencers so those wishing for a more well known product could consider the Hydragun!

Qualitative Factors

Trying out the Hydragun, we were immediately impressed by the sturdiness of the gun. Compared to Theragun Prime, the Hydragun was definitely sturdier as it did not have a moveable attachment head. What stood out most to us was the fact that they had 7 attachment heads, which provided plenty of choices when it came to which head to use for our massage. At first try, all Hydragun’s claimed specifications held up – it was pretty strong, quiet and had a rather smooth percussion mechanic. Even though the number of attachment heads was an added convenient factor, our team members felt that some were excessive, as they weren’t going to use different attachments head regularly. This was definitely a good choice for those not on a budget. However, the heavier weight as compared to the Myodive Sonic was a concern as you did feel the ache on your wrists after a while. The operation was also slightly noisier and just a tad bit duller as compared to the Myodive Sonic. However, it made up for it with its sturdier feel and many attachment heads. Overall we rated this a 3.5/5.

4. Bonus Review – Random Shopee Massage Gun – $129

This gun was purchased from Shopee at $129. However, we are unable to find the brand as even though it had a lot of reviews, it is now not available.

Quantitative Factors

Price: $129 on Sale

Amplitude: 10mm
Stall Force : Unstated (tested at 6kg)
Noise Level: Below 65db
Intensity Levels: Unstated
Battery Life: 2 Hours
Net Weight: 1.12kg
Number of Attachment Heads: 7
In-home Trial: No
Warranty: 1 Year (But seller disappeared)

Qualitative Factors

This was an average massage gun but it was rather cheap at $129. There were obvious differences between this gun and those from the above brands. For one, the motor operation was shakier and noisier, and you could feel that the build quality of the gun was worse. Furthermore, the massage attachment heads do not fit smoothly into gun. It was noisy and had a lower than expected stall force. Overall, we would not recommend this gun. While we did not feel that Shopee was the issue, do be careful when you purchase from Shopee as the seller for this gun disappeared after we purchased.

Our Overall Verdict

Our overall verdict for the best massage gun in Singapore was the Myodive Sonic. It’s combination of excellent build quality, features and value for money made it a great buy for us. However, for those wanted a slightly different experience, the Theragun Prime was a great choice too! We hope that this review has been useful and do leave us your feedback in the comments section below!
